B&W Hand Printing Workshop
B&W Hand Printing Workshop
Bangkok Darkroom's B&W Hand Printing Workshop teaches you to print your own black and white negatives by hand, in a real working darkroom near Phrom Phong BTS station. This is a 100% analog process: your photograph is created by optically projecting the image from your film directly onto photographic paper, producing the highest possible image quality.
What you'll learn in this hand printing workshop
- How to use an enlarger to project your negative onto photographic paper
- How to judge exposure, and dodge and burn to control light across a print
- How to develop, stop, and fix a print by hand in the darkroom
- How to evaluate your own print and make adjustments for a second attempt
What's included
- All darkroom equipment, paper, and chemistry
- Guidance from an instructor throughout the session
- Your own hand-printed photographs to take home
How to Prepare
Your film must be processed before the workshop. If you're not taking our Film Developing workshop, we recommend What The Film in Ekamai for processing your B&W film. Bring at least 5 images on B&W negative film, any format from 35mm to 4x5 inch large format. Your film must be a negative, as positive (slide) film is not supported. If you're bringing anything larger than 35mm, please let us know at least 48 hours before the class.
